Singapore and Hong Kong, 13 March 2024 - China Everbright Water Limited (“Everbright Water” or the “Company”; stock codes: U9E.SG and 1857.HK), an environmental protection company focusing on water environment management, is pleased to announce that a consortium joined by Everbright Water (the “Consortium”) has signed a concession agreement today and secured Zhangcun River Waste Water Treatment Plant (“Qingdao Zhangcun River Plant”) Phase II and Phase I Upgrading Project (“Qingdao Zhangcun River Project” or the “Project”) in Laoshan District of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, with an investment of approximately RMB688 million.
With a concession period of 30 years (inclusive of a construction period), Qingdao Zhangcun River Project will be invested in, constructed, operated and maintained based on the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model by a project company to be incorporated by the Consortium, in which Everbright Water holds a 49% equity interest. Adopting an underground construction model, the Project mainly involves the construction of Qingdao Zhangcun River Plant Phase II, which has a designed daily waste water treatment of 60,000 m3; and upgrading of Qingdao Zhangcun River Plant Phase I, which has a designed daily waste water treatment of 40,000 m3. Upon completion of the relevant upgrading works, major discharged water indicators of Qingdao Zhangcun River Plant Phase I and Phase II will comply with the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002) for Category Quasi-IV, while the other major indicators will comply with the Grade 1A Standard according to the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (GB 18918-2002). The effluent after treatment will be disinfected and used to replenish the water of Zhangcun River.
The implementation of Qingdao Zhangcun River Project will further improve the municipal waste water collection and treatment system in Zhangcun River coverage area, and meet the increasing demand for waste water treatment in the local region. Securing the Project will also enhance Everbright Water’s water treatment service capabilities in Qingdao and solidify the Company’s local market position. Everbright Water will closely collaborate with another member of the Consortium to develop Qingdao Zhangcun River Project into a benchmark project renowned for its high quality. The Project will aid in preserving the water environmental quality of Zhangcun River, reduce potential pollution to the nearby sea area caused by waste water, and continue to support the sustainable development and growth of Zhangcun River coverage area.
